Prayer Breakfast

On Saturday, November 10th, the Chesapeake-Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter paid homage to the brave men and women who have committed their lives to serving our country and protecting our freedom. Honorees were recognized for their patriotism and extraordinary leadership at the ‘Tribute to Veterans Prayer Breakfast’ held at the Holiday Inn Virginia Beach/Norfolk Hotel and Conference Center.

Reverend Dr. Melanie Miller, Military Chaplin and Pastor of Varick Memorial Church in Hackensack, NJ, served as the guest speaker for the event. The crowd was at full attention as she recited an inspirational poem and led the chant, ‘And They Keep Coming’. Reverend Miller, who was initiated in the Chesapeake-Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter, ended with a powerful message of how faith keeps our courageous servicemen and servicewomen pressing forward. The event closed out with every veteran receiving a gold trimmed flag pin and a rose while Soror Ruby Pool paid tribute in song.

The breakfast was truly an honored event and a show of appreciation for the courage and sacrifice of all our veterans. A special thanks to the Membership Services Committee for an outstanding prayer breakfast and a job well done.
